Hi, Im Haydn, My Karate journey started in 2005 at the age of 13. I got into Karate after spending my youth watching my parents teach Karate before making the decision to take part myself and begin my own Karate journey. Karate has always been a big part of my family and I count myself very fortunate to have had exceptional role models to guide and support me throughout. There was no bigger critic than my father and nothing drove me more than trying to continue to make him proud. It comes as no surprise that Karate then transcended into my own family with my children and partner also wanting to share in my passion and becoming Karateka themselves, and I couldn’t be prouder of them.
I myself got addicted almost instantly after beginning, and from there never looked back and always craved for more. I did my first tournament as a yellow belt and continued to enter as many tournaments as possible back to back championing at Regional, National and World levels on multiple occasions. With my biggest success being my chance to represent England in Australia. I qualified to becoming a high level tournament judge and referee which was challenging but very rewarding to be part of others success. I had the privilege of training under many different instructors across the country from Northampton, the West Midlands, Liverpool and Manchester. And I believe this is a big reason I am who I am today, as I absorbed the best parts from all of them to ensure I was the very best I could be. And obtained my Black Belt in 2010.
In 2008 at 16 I became one of the youngest Senpai’s and just like my parents I began my teaching journey too. I fully qualified to Sensei in 2010 and started up my own classes and as a Sensei I have taught just short of a thousand different students and instructors over the years. People of all ages from 5 to in their 80’s and people who have had all kinds of disabilities. This showing exactly why Karate is for anyone and everyone, and why it really is a fantastic hobby to have. My proudest moments have been through my students rather than my own accomplishments. There is no better feeling than seeing your students grade to Black Belt or winning a World Championship title and I have been so lucky to see this happen on many an occasion.
Since relocating to the North West myself, and fellow Co-Founders Connor and Michelle have had one goal, and that is to open our own Karate Club. There are so many benefits that Karate can offer someone and we just want to help give to others what we have been so lucky to have had ourselves. And with that I hope to see you there so that you can join our community and allow us to guide you through your journey and build lasting friendships.
